Bachelor of Business & Laws

The Program Learning Outcomes of a Bachelor of Business include a “broad and coherent body of knowledge that underpins theory, practice and professionalism,” (Griffith University, 2017) whilst graduates should also have a number of cognitive and technical skills. It is stated that the ability to synthesise theoretical knowledge and reflect critically is required, this has been greatly aided by the internship program as assessment pieces built on this notion in requiring in-depth reflection and the application of relevant theory to industry learnings. Additionally, students should be able to display creativity in designing, analysing and delivering processes for problem solving in preparation for the workplace. The GOLDOC internship has taken this further by allowing the opportunity to test these skills and further develop techniques in a real-world application. This was seen through input into the venue planning process. Furthermore, communication skills are vital in being able to communicate with a number of stakeholders. GOLDOC facilitated this through the Venue Management internship, as I was able to develop my oral and written communication style in working collaboratively with other Functional Areas and external stakeholders such as venue owners and tenants. By analysing the internship contract above I have been able to identify that there is a strong correlation between the tasks completed throughout the internship and the required program learning outcomes of a Bachelor of Business.
